Funded PhD Positions on Database Security at UMass Dartmouth

The funded PhD position focuses on database security. The preferred start date is January 2020, but this is flexible. We will also accept applications for September 2020. Since the applications are made to the graduate school directly, based on the qualifications of the applicants, the candidates can get admitted to work with other professors in the department as well.
The deadline for applications is October 15, 2019.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
-The applicant must hold a master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, Informatics, Cognitive Science or equivalent
- Undergrad GPA at least 3.0 (over a 4.0 scale) and/or Grad GPA at least 3.25
- A minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based)
- Preferred CS courses taken including data structures, algorithms, programming proficiency in Python/C++/Java, cybersecurity, machine learning and database systems
- Great motivation for research, interest in the topic and good knowledge of relevant theory and methods
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in both written and oral English
Preferred qualifications:
- Background in cybersecurity and/or database systems is a plus
- Experience from scientific work (e.g., previous publications) is a plus
- Experience from previous software engineering positions is a plus
- Having a rich GitHub profile is a plus
