Assistant Researcher (PhD) : New approaches for Information-Centric Networks in IoT Environments
Country/Region : Portugal
Website : https://www.it.pt/Members/Index/501
Description
The relevant information to apply is available in the following link: https://www.it.pt/Positions/PostDoc/281
---
Context and Area of Work
---
The InfoCent-IoT project (https://www.it.pt/Projects/Index/4559) aims to design an ICN architecture for IoT infrastructures taking advantage of mobility prediction information. It will propose an ICN architecture specially designed for IoT platforms, focusing on the characterization and analysis of mobility prediction algorithms, which will be considered to parameterize the ICN system, having a direct impact on naming, routing, forwarding and in-network caching strategies. This will provide innovative naming, forwarding, routing and caching strategies covering the specifications of IoT scenarios and particularly tailored to support node’s mobility. This will then be implemented in a prototype and evaluated in different real scenarios.

Research Group
---
The Networks and Architectures Protocols' group (https://www.it.pt/Groups/Index/62) has a strong experience in the leadership of national and international projects, such as FP7 projects (4WARD, Euro-NF, C-Cast, WIP, Daidalos, C-Mobile), EU Coordinated Support Action 2012-316296 "FUTURE-CITIES", EU Horizon 2020 5GinFire, CMU-Portugal projects (S2MovingCity, DRIVE-IN with the Carnegie Melon University), and many other national projects through European funds, and with the industry.
This group has strong experience in the integration of both network and cloud resources in SDN environments, in mobility, QoS, security and routing in wireless and vehicular networks.
