Vacancy: Fully funded PhD scholarship in AI for Data Forensics

The Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) sponsors a 4-year PhD candidate
position, which should be recruited at the Artificial Intelligence
Laboratory (AILab), University of Zagreb

The subject of the PhD project is related to the field of artificial
intelligence for data forensics, and the selected candidate will
enroll in the doctoral study "Information Science" with fully funded
PhD studentship at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics
(https://www.foi.unizg.hr/en).
About the department:
Established in 1962, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics is an
institution that reaches back more than half a century, which is a
comparably long tradition when modern technologies studies are
concerned. Over the decades, the Faculty has been providing education
to future experts in the field of information sciences and
technologies, economics, organization, communication and other related
fields. All the necessary infrastructure for educational and research
purposes is provided within our two buildings (FOI I and FOI II)
including: well-equipped computer rooms, videoconferencing facilities,
e-learning system, wireless Internet access throughout the premises as
well as a modern library and the reading room. Both FOI buildings are
located in the vicinity of the town centre, the Student Dormitory
Varaždin and the newly built Student restaurant.
AILab's mission is to conduct cutting-edge, long-term research and
education in artificial intelligence, multi-agent systems,
computational intelligence, web mining, Big Data and related topics.
Our research addresses fundamental problems in designing more capable
AI systems and controlling them to interact intelligently with people,
the environment and each other.
About the project:
The PhD candidate will take part in the development of a proactive
AI-based database forensics framework and further development of an
analytics tool developed by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to
ensure traceability of digital evidence and support work with a wide
range of common database management systems (DBMSs), includng
SQL-based systems as well as non-relational (so-called NoSQL) systems
- which are becoming more and more popular in the context of data
science, AI and the processing of Big Data.
Terms and conditions:
- Completed graduate university or integral studies (master level) in
computer science, information technology or related fields.
Desirable knowledge and skills:
- Desire for learning and research.
- Enthusiasm in the field of artificial intelligence, databases, data
science and open-source.
- Basics of computer forensics and forensic analysis is a plus.
- Basics of relational database management systems (e.g. PostgreSQL,
MySQL, SQLite, Oracle, MS SQL or similar).
- Basics of NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis, Teradata,
ZODB or similar).
- Good knowledge of programming (Python, NodeJS, R, Gambas,
VisualBasic or similar).

- resume/curriculum vitae with data about education and previous work
experience (if applicable)
- diploma copies including diploma supplement with individual course grades
- evidence that the applicant has an above 4.0 GPA (Croatian scale is
from 1 - insufficient to 5 - excellent) or is in 10% of the most
successful students in his/her graduation year
- certificate of citizenship
- list of scientific/professional publications and a copy of each work
(if applicable)
- letter of motivation including a short research proposal related to
AI in data forensics (2-3 pages)
