PhD-level data scientist/engineer on energy use in buildings at The Sustain lab
Country/Region : UK - United Kingdom
Description
The Sustain lab is a multidisciplinary team using methods from data science, human-computer interaction, and social sciences to study energy, health and related problems. We seek a PhD-level data scientist/engineer to work initially on three projects related to energy use in buildings. IDEAL and BIG-SMALL are focused on households, and here the data science challenges are to infer occupant behaviour from a variety of data sources (demographics and surveys) and streams (sensors reading temperature, humidity, electricity and gas use, and webapp interactions). Enhance is focussed on labs and performance spaces, with similarly diverse data sources. For all these projects, the overall goal is to help make energy use more efficient through feedback to building occupants.
The post is fixed term until the end of November 2018, although additional funding is being sought to extend the work.
The postholder will work with the the investigators, Dr. Nigel Goddard and Dr. Charles Sutton.
The closing date is 5pm GMT on 21 December 2017
