The Montefiore Institute of the University of Liège (Belgium) is seeking
candidates for a 4-year PhD studentship in the field of deep learning for
physical sciences.
The candidate will take part in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects
spanning research in deep learning, likelihood-free inference and physical
sciences (such as particle physics, astronomy or geophysics), with the long-term
objective of furthering scientific discovery through modern artificial
intelligence methods. Research topics include deep learning for domain sciences,
implicit generative models, simulator-based inference, optimal experimental
design and the automation of Science at large.
Applications are invited from candidates with a master's degree (or close to
completion) in Computer Science, Engineering or Data science, with a
strong background in artificial intelligence and interest for physical sciences.
