NYU Steinhardt Invites Applications for Two Tenure Track Faculty Positions in Technology Enhanced Learning and Human-Computer Interaction

Development invites applications and nominations for two tenure track
faculty positions starting September 2018.
*Assistant Professor of Technology-Enhanced and Online Learning*
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the design
and study of online and blended learning in higher education, with an
interest in envisioning and studying
new learning approaches, pedagogies, and assessments, using qualitative and
quantitative research methods, including learning analytic approaches. We
specifically seek scholars whose work goes beyond descriptive and
evaluative accounts of online program development to investigate the
innovative possibilities for deep learning enabled by the changing
landscape of technology and higher education. This includes advances in
artificial intelligence, mobile technologies, learning analytics,
educational data mining, natural language processing, social networking,
virtual and augmented-reality, global education, and credentialing systems.
*Assistant Professor of Human-Computer Interaction and Learning Sciences*
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in
human-centered design, user and learner experience design, and an interest
in studying new interfaces for technology and learning, including online
learning environments, data-rich contexts (e.g., analytics, data
visualization etc.), artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented-reality
settings, and playful learning
contexts. We are open to designers who work in any of a wide range of
learning contexts (such as formal schooling, workplaces, museums,
nonprofits, and international development) and with learners of any age,
from young children to adults.
*Necessary Qualifications*:
- An earned doctorate in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology,
Cognitive Science, Educational Technology, Human-Computer Interaction,
Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science or a related field.
- A strong program or potential for theory-based research on the design
and/or use of digital media for learning, teaching, or assessment in
traditional or nontraditional settings.
The appointed faculty member will be part of the Educational Communication
and Technology Program in the Department
of Administration, Leadership, and Technology.
We seek engaged educators and researchers
interested in the design and scholarship of learning technologies who are
committed to the ideals of social equity and an informed and participatory
citizenry. Research specializations that include new and emerging learning
technologies and research methodologies are of particular interest.
