Fully funded PhD Positions in (Deep) Learning and Musical Expressivity
Country/Region : Austria
Description
*Open Research Positions (PhD student level)*
at the Department of Computational Perception,
Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria
and/or the Austrian Research Institute for
Artificial Intelligence (OFAI), Vienna, Austria
in the context CON ESPRESSIONE research project,
funded by the European Research Council (ERC) in the context
of an ERC Advanced Grant.
The goal of this 5-year project is to develop the basis for a new
generation of musically intelligent computer systems that have a
deeper "understanding" of music and its structure, and can recognise
and manipulate aspects of *expressivity* in music.
We are looking for highly motivated, creative, inter-disciplinary
young researchers with a strong background in (Deep) Machine Learning,
MIR, Music, and Music Theory, and a deep love for music and computer-based
music research.
In particular, in this round we are looking for candidates ready
to tackle challenges like the following:
- Deep Learning Models of Emotion Recognition in Music
- Deep Models of Musical Structure Recognition
- Deep Learning Models of Musical Expectancy and Surprise
- Learning to Recognise Expressive Cues from Music Performances [Audio]
- Generating Expressive Performances with a Desired Expressive Intention
- Expressivity-aware Real-time Accompaniment
