The Department of Computing at Imperial College London invites applications from outstanding students for up to 30 fully-funded studentships for the 2018/19 PhD programme. The Department of Computing is one of the largest computing departments in the UK and is a world leader in academic research in computer science. Its research has been ranked in the top three in the UK in the British Research Excellence Framework undertaken in 2014.
We invite applications from students of the highest calibre for PhD study in all areas of the Department's research. In particular, we seek to recruit outstanding students with an early record of accomplishment in machine learning. Applicants are expected to have a First Class or Distinction Masters level degree, or equivalent, in a relevant scientific or technical discipline, such as computer science or mathematics, and are expected to be within the top 10% of their class.
Although applications can be made at any time in the year, to increase your chances in the competition for funding, we recommend that you apply by one of the following three dates: 10 November 2017, 19 January 2018, and 23 March 2018.
Our PhD studentships cover tuition fees and a bursary of approximately £16,500 per year and will be allocated on a competitive basis. The earliest start date for successful applicants is October 2018.
