The Faculty of Health Science and Technology has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral position at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the field of computer networking with focus on Next Generation Datacenters. The position is a full-time position for two year. The starting date for the position is by mutual agreement within the time span October 1, 2017 and December 1, 2017.
The post-doctoral researcher will work in the framework of the research profile HITS funded by the Knowledge Foundation of Sweden. The research profile focuses on the design, implementation and evaluation of novel solutions to support high quality networked services in an increasingly mobile and dynamic world, focusing on Cloud based service delivery. For this post, we are working together with Ericsson AB to design and develop advanced mobile networking and service delivery solutions for the future 5G networks, which will be hosted in Distributed Cloud Environments. Work objectives are mobile networks solutions design and modeling, performance evaluations, research prototype software development, publications. The project is to be conducted within a unique research group with strong track records in transport layer protocols, software defined networking, and wireless networks. English is the working language in the research group.
Knowledge or experience in principles and tools for Software Defined Networking (SDN), Programmable Dataplanes (such as P4), and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are required. Knowledge on Cloud/Container Platforms such as OpenStack or Docker are beneficial. Good mathematical skills in the area of optimization are a benefit. Experience in prototyping R&D concepts as well as programming proficiency in Java/Python and familiarity with software development under UNIX-based system (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) is of benefit.
