A postdoctoral fellow position is available in Point of Care Analytics Lab at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center–Oak Ridge National Lab’s Center for Biomedical Informatics. Point of Care Analytics (PCA) is a laboratory for innovation at the intersection of event stream analytics, signal processing, machine learning, medical science, and systems design. PoCA develops novel and impactful applications and algorithms that can be used to predict abnormal medical conditions before they show clinical signs at the bed-side.
The postdoctoral fellow will lead efforts, through collaboration with clinical partners to design and develop advanced real-time algorithms for predicting abnormal conditions at the bedside using data streams acquired in the intensive care unit at the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Qualifications
A successful applicant must have a Ph.D. of high standing in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Medical Informatics, etc.) within the last five years and a strong research track record. Strong programming and communication skills are required. Prior experience in real-time signal processing, machine learning, real-time event stream processing, or dynamic visual analytics would be a strong asset.

This appointment will initially be for 12 months with a possibility of an extension subject to performance and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor.
