SAIL-Toyota AI Research Center in Collaboration with the Stanford Vision and Learning Group (SVL) is looking for a postdoctoral scholar to help lead research projects in Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning & Robotics.
The Stanford-Toyota Research Center brings together researchers from fields such as visual computing, machine learning, robotics, human-computer interactions, intelligent systems, decision making, natural language processing, and dynamic modeling and design. The focus is on the development of innovative and impactful approaches, algorithms, and data, with a comprehensive approach that includes research in perception, learning, reasoning, and interaction.
[Project Description]
The mission of the project is to endow autonomous robots the ability to perceive complex tasks. The research will involve leading and executing a research vision in Learning and Semantic Reasoning to achieve generalization in robotics. This effort touches on all fields of robotics: Sensing and Vision, Reinforcement Learning, and planning & control. The lab has expertise and platforms for social robot mobility and robot manipulation.
Additional responsibilities include developing research objectives and proposals; presentations and publications; liaising and networking with colleagues and students; planning and organizing research resources and workshops. The candidate will also be actively involved in mentoring students in SVL.
- PhD degree in computer science, robotics, engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience with robotics research demonstrated by a strong track record of academic publications.
- Expertise in one or more of the following: Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Robotics.
- Knowledge of Linux and development on Linux systems; proven system integration and software architecture skills; and knowledge of modern software development practices and engineering tools, specifically experience with simulation environments and ROS (Robot Operating System), is desired.
- Proficiency with using and developing with deep learning frameworks.
