Funded Ph.D position in Machine Learning at Frederick University

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Frederick University (www.frederick.ac.cy) invites applications for one (1) funded Ph.D Position within the research topic of machine learning. This position is part of a close research collaboration between the University’s Computational Intelligence (COIN) Laboratory and Albourne Partners Limited and its Group (www.albourne.com/).
Albourne is one of the world’s leading providers of independent high-quality research and advice on complicated assets. The successful applicant will perform research on intelligent data analysis and the development of machine learning techniques for applied problems within the Albourne Group under the supervision of Dr Harris Papadopoulos. An important focus of the work will be the provision of well-calibrated confidential information in machine learning predictions.
*Funding:*
The funding comprises tuition fees for a Ph.D program and a contract of employment with Albourne Partners (Cyprus) Limited, remunerated at the rate of Euro 900.00 per month. Both tuition fees and employment will be for an initial period of six months which, subject to satisfactory performance, may be renewable for successive periods of six months not exceeding the normal three-year duration of the Ph.D program.
*Qualifications:*
The ideal applicant should have a master’s degree in engineering, computer science or applied mathematics. S/he should have a good background in mathematics, statistics, and programming (Java, MatLab), coupled with scientific curiosity and good communication skills. Good knowledge of the English language is required.
The applicant must be eligible under Cyprus legislation to be employed by a company in Cyprus.

- any other supporting material (e.g. publications).
