Three postdoctoral research associate positions - machine learning approaches to program synthesis / induction / visualization

We are looking for three postdoctoral research associates who will study, using machine learning approaches, program synthesis / induction and software visualization. Prior experience in machine learning is helpful, but is not necessary as long as the candidate is motivated to learn. Candidates should have a PhD, preferably in machine learning, computer science, computational physics, computational mathematics or related fields. Candidates must have a strong publication record.
The positions correspond to the following topics:
1. Studying artificial intelligent agents that interact directly with computer and computer networks, learning to control computers and to generate software based on a semantic understanding of how computers work. This will be based on machine learning models that allow artificial agents to develop structured, hierarchical representations of their environment, by interacting with this environment. This work will continue with designing systems that automatically generate software. Position code: AutoWare-PD-C. Starting date: as soon as possible.
2. Studying machine learning approaches to program synthesis or induction, including ones that leverage "big code" - the large quantities of open source software available on the internet. Designing systems that automatically generate software. Position code: AutoWare-PD-D. Starting date: January, 2018.
3. Studying machine learning approaches to program synthesis, induction, and visualization, including ones that leverage "big code". Designing systems that assist software developers. Position code: AutoWare-PD-E. Starting date: January, 2018.
The positions are offered for up to 3.5 years, at the Romanian Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) in Cluj, Romania. The positions are part of the Deep Computational Intelligence group, one of two newly-formed groups in machine learning where about 20 new postdoctoral research associates and research software developers are being hired this year.
We are looking for self-motivated, independent, creative scientists, with strong analytical and computational modeling skills.

Net salary is 1,900-2,300 euros per month, while the cost of living in Cluj is significantly lower than in Western Europe or the USA. The working language is English.
