Two postdoc opportunities: 1 in RL and 1 in Human-in-the-loop RL for education
Country/Region : USA - United States
Website : http://cs.stanford.edu
Description
Two postdoc opportunities for this fall. One general one in reinforcement learning with me (Emma Brunskill) and another for human-in-the-loop RL with a focus on education (details below) with me and Zoran Popovic.
To learn more please email

and include a resume/cv. Thanks!
Human-in-the-loop Reinforcement Learning Postdoc Opportunity (with
focus on education applications)
Coupling human and artificial reinforcement learning agents offers the
chance to create systems for tackling the biggest problems.
Human-in-the-loop RL can help make adaptive, personalized automated
tutors that evolve beyond their original specification to enable
radically more efficient, engaging and effective learning. We have a
postdoctoral opportunity for someone to help advance the foundations
of human-in-the-loop reinforcement learning and leverage those
insights to achieve real impact on student learning.
This 1 year (with potential to extend to 2 year) position will be
co-advised by Zoran Popovic (UW) and Emma Brunskill (Stanford): you
can live in either Seattle or the bay area, with supported travel for
periodic visits to the other location.
No prior experience in human-in-the-loop RL is required, but you
should have a publication record in top AI, ML, (e.g. ICML, NIPS,
AAAI, IJCAI, UAI, AISTATS, ICLR) and/or HCI, CS and education (e.g.
EDM, AIED, LAK, LAS) conferences, and, most importantly, care deeply
about creating robust algorithms that work in the real world and make
impact.
