Description

The Computer Vision and Systems Laboratory of Université Laval is requesting applications from students interested in pursuing graduate studies at the Master's (research-oriented) and PhD level, and postdoctoral fellowships as well, in the area of intelligent systems engineering. In particular, the projects focus on the learning of representations for images and video processing, online active learning and the automation of learning system configurations. We are looking for serious and motivated candidates, with interest and preferably experience to conduct research work in the area of machine learning and its application.

** Profiles **
- Postdoctoral fellow: PhD in a relevant research area, with convincing experience and scientific achievements (e.g., publications), willingness to contribute to supervision of graduate and undergraduate students
- PhD: Master's diploma with specialization in machine learning, computer vision, optimization, or other related research areas, and a good familiarization with scientific research
- Master's (research-oriented): diploma in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, mathematics and computing, statistics or other relevant areas
** Financial Support **
Positions are open for a beginning in September 2017 or January 2018. Under conditions of satisfactory progress, a financial support is offered:
- Postdoctoral fellow: $60,000/year, minimum 1 year
- PhD: $20,000/year for 4 years
- Master's: $17,000/year for 2 years
For students at the Master's and PhD levels, the financial support is net, given as scholarship, with no charges or taxes. Foreign PhD students can generally benefit from a supplemental tuition fee exemption, paying the same tuition fees as Quebec citizens (-AT-$3000/year).
