Open postdoctoral position in the UiT Machine Learning Group on deep learning

The UiT Machine Learning Group http://site.uit.no/ml directed by Robert Jenssen has an open three-year postdoctoral position:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to take an active role in the group’s research on advancing deep learning methodology. Special emphasis will be given to deep convolutional neural networks for image analysis and to autoencoders. The overarching basic research idea is to leverage the power of kernel machines for advancing deep neural networks, focusing particularly on unsupervised learning. The aim is to jointly advance deep learning (convolutional neural networks, autoencoders) and kernel machines (spectral clustering, dimensionality reduction, manifold learning), by synergistically coupling those paradigms.
The candidate will seek to apply the novel methodology within our research activity "deep learning for data-driven health" http://site.uit.no/deephealthresearch for decision and diagnosis support, based on analysis of heterogeneous data from electronic health records (close collaboration with the University Hospital of North Norway).
In addition, the candidate is expected to contribute to applied and industrial research, particularly with respect to image analysis. The candidate is expected to master or to learn software such as e.g. Keras and Theano. Knowledge of e.g. TensorFlow and/or Caffe will also be beneficial.
