We seek to appoint a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with established research expertise in Autonomous Systems or a related field. You should hold a PhD or be near to completion, and should be able to demonstrate a good track record in these research fields. Once in post, you are expected to develop your own research portfolio, acquire external funding, supervise postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, publish in the highest quality journals and conferences, contribute to real-world applications with positive impacts on the wider society and economy, and to conduct, direct and supervise research in line with the targets set by the School.
You will be a key part of the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS), which specialises in the integration of perception, learning, decision-making, control and interaction capabilities in autonomous systems and the application of this research in fields such as agri-food, healthcare, intra-logistics, intelligent transportation, nuclear robotics, personal robotics and security. The L-CAS is one of the fastest growing robotics groups in the UK. We provide a highly-dynamic inter-disciplinary research environment with a broad range of collaboration opportunities and a large variety of robots to work with.
We are looking to recruit an individual – from an early careers researcher to a senior professional - who shares our ambition to become one of the world’s leading robotics labs. We would particularly welcome applications from new areas that complement our existing research specialisms, including (but not limited to) interactive learning for robotics, reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, deep learning or Bayesian methods, applied to areas of robotics such as (but not limited to) dexterous manipulation, haptics, human-robot collaboration, intelligent tele-operation, swarm robotics, autonomous driving and agricultural robotics.
You will be expected to take an active part in the activities of the School of Computer Science, to contribute to its teaching activity at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the University’s high standards in teaching and learning.
