The Personalization Science team at Yahoo Research solves some of the most challenging and interesting personalization, recommendation, and machine learned ranking problems. We are growing our team and have an exciting job opening located in our office in Sunnyvale CA.
We hire the best scientific minds who like to roll up their sleeves to make new discoveries that contribute to the success of the business—and at the same time can be presented at the top scientific conferences. We are looking for a Research Scientist with a PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields.
Our scientists specialize in personalization and ranking for Yahoo properties including Homepage, Sports, Finance, and News. We design and invent algorithms to push the intelligence and performance of our platforms. We actively contribute to the scientific and open source communities through conferences, journals, and open-source code.
Your responsibilities Include:
- Conceive, design, prototype, and evaluate complex algorithms and statistical models that can be integrated into the ranking and serving platform
- Work closely with colleagues on the engineering team to put research results into action
- Provide thought leadership to guide the direction of Yahoo products and services
- Be a leader in your research area and contribute to the scientific communities
- Stay current on published state-of-the-art techniques for ranking, recommendation, personalization and machine learning.
You Must Have
- PhD in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Visualization, or related fields
- Strong academic research track record and publications in top-tier conferences and/or journals
- Deep understand of algorithms and strong problem solving skills
- Demonstrated expertise and desire to work hands-on in analyzing and modeling large scale data sets and implementation skills in Java, Scala, C/C++, Python etc.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Areas of expertise we look for include: machine learning, deep learning, content-based recommendations, NLP, and related fields.
