We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Director of Technical R&D who will be responsible for managing a team of deep learning researchers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers that are part of the Comcast Artificial Intelligence group. The Comcast AI group is providing solutions in the areas of natural language processing, computer vision, recommendation systems, deep learning, and data science to all of Comcast. This includes managing parts of a large- scale machine and deep learning platform and collaborating with project teams to maximize the value of their data and help them to incorporate machine learning into their products.

Director of Technical R&D – Artificial Intelligence
Responsibilities
• Help build and operate a large scale distributed Machine Learning Platform (ingest, process, compute, data and code governance) using Docker, Spark and Deep Learning frameworks that runs on heterogeneous CPU/GPU clusters
• Evaluate, develop, and deploy Machine Learning frameworks with support for iterative model development, multiple algorithms and well-defined deployment processes for Machine Learning at scale
• Guide your team to develop novel machine learning solutions to problems in customer service, security, network health, video analytics, virtual assistants, advertising, …
• Education: promote a data-aware culture-AT-Comcast
• Collaborate with teams and team members in multiple locations (Sunnyvale, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Denver) since we are distributed team that works with distributed clients
• Promote technical excellence and best practices
• Manage deep learning researchers, machine learning and data engineers, and data scientists

Qualifications
• 10+ years experience, 5+ years engineering/research management
• Strong technical leadership & people management
• BS/CS or equivalent required; PhD/CS a plus
• 5+ years experience in data-centric roles
o ideally a mix of Machine Learning research & Data Science
• 3+ years experience in Machine Learning algorithms & technologies with depth in at least one of the following:
o Large-scale Machine Learning frameworks: Python scikit-learn, H2O, SparkML, Pandas
o Deep Learning frameworks: Tensorflow, CNTK, MxNet, Caffe, Keras, Theano, …
• At least high-level familiarity with NLP and Computer Vision algorithms
• Know your way around Deep Learning theory: CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, GANs, Adagrad, …
• Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with many of the following data technologies/tools
o Hadoop, Kubernetes, Docker, Spark, Kafka, Python, Scala, Node.js, Splunk, Datameer, Tableau, Jupyter Project, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
