PhD positions in machine learning and computer vision, University of Bath

Description

The prospective PhD student will work with Dr. Kwang In Kim [https://people.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~kkim/] designing new machine learning algorithms to face challenges in computer vision and graphics applications.
Our current research focuses on large-scale/multimodal learning algorithms for vision applications, e.g., organizing media collections into semantically meaningful representations, and using these to allow easier search, exploration, editing, and content creation.
The successful candidates will join the Visual Computing Group [http://www.bath.ac.uk/comp-sci/research/visual-com...] at University of Bath’s Computer Science Department, a vibrant research team with six academics and a group of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

Anticipated start date: 2 October 2017.
Requirements:
Applicants must be from UK/EU: The scholarship covers standard living expenses and tuition fees for UK/EU students.
Applicants should have a first class in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field. Applicants need to have a strong background in mathematics and high proficiency in Matlab (or any other development environment). Having experienced with an MSc project in machine learning or vision is a plus but is not required.
