Centrale Marseille is a young and dynamic school and participates in all the major changes taking place in today’s diverse society through being its membership of a network of top-ranking schools and universities around the world. Through its structure and its name, the Ecole Centrale de Marseille is linked to France’s other Engineering Schools, the Écoles Centrales. Its students are recruited through the same application process and its teaching programme and international relationships reflect those of the Écoles Centrales of Lille, Lyon, Nantes and Paris. The candidate will have to conduct his research in the Laboratoire d’Informatique Fondamentale de Marseille (Fundamental Computer Science Lab of Marseille, LIF) on topics related to Large scale data processing, Machine learning, Deep Learning, Representation learning and their applications.
The ability of the candidate to enrich the technological dimension of the research carried out at Ecole Centrale Marseille and to participate in industrial partnerships is a strong point.
* Computer Science Lab (LIF) at Aix-Marseille University (http://www.lif.univ-mrs.fr/)
The LIF lab was created in 2001 and located on the Luminy Campus, is a joint research unit between Aix-Marseille University and CNRS since 2002. LIF is partner with the École Centrale de Marseille (ECM) and it is a member of two Labex (Lab. of excellence), the Brain Language Research Institute (BLRI) and Archimede (Mathematics and Computer Science). LIF is also a founding member of FRIIAM (Computer Science and Interaction research federation of Aix-Marseille). LIF has 65 permanent members, with 7 people for the administrative and technical support, 21 Phd students and 5 postdoc researchers. The research activities of the unit is centered on computer science and addresses several themes that are spread over 7 teams :
? ACRO (Combinatorial problems, graph theory, complexity and discrete geometry) ;
? BDA (Database warehouse and visualization) ;
? CANA (Natural computing) ;
? DALGO (Distributed algorithms) ;
? MOVE (Quantitative modelling and verification) ;
? QARMA (Machine learning) ;
? TALEP (Natural language processing).
Covering a wide spectrum of research in computer science, the laboratory is an important and highly productive actor in the field. LIF has a significant publication record (500 between 2011 and 2016, only counting the communications in peer-reviewed journals and in the proceedings of international conferences with reviewing committees) and it collaborates with industrial partners through different kinds of national and international research projects, with the help of its valorization and industrial relation department.
* Application criteria
To be considered for this position applications must respond to the selection criteria below.
* A PhD in Computing or a closely related discipline.
* A strong record of ongoing research and scholarly publishing.
* Demonstrated academic/professional experience in the research focus of the position.
* Teaching experience demonstrating both commitment and success or a demonstrated capacity to develop the skills that enable effective and inspirational participation in teaching .
* High level of oral and written communication skills in English.
* Proven ability to interact effectively with students, staff, industry and the community.

* Note that applicants that did not go through the french ? qualification ? process can apply if and only if they already have a lecturer position in a foreign country.
