The Data Science team focuses on core research problems that leverage the large-scale data processing infrastructure which manages telemetry, engagement and monetization data from all of EA’s games (e.g. FIFA, Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront, Need for Speed, The Simpsons: Tapped Out). The depth and success of EA’s gaming portfolio enables us to address novel and challenging problems that effect multiple games and have real, measurable impact across all of EA. Some of the problems we’re working on include pricing optimization, user engagement and prediction, virtual economy management, game theory, data integrity and in-game fraud.
For our internship program, advanced PhD students will be given preference, but exceptional MS students are encouraged to apply. For our full-time openings, an ideal candidate would have a PhD in computer science (or related field), a strong research track record with publications at top conferences, experience building machine learning systems, experience with Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, and the ability to own and manage entire research projects.
This team is based in Redwood City, CA (EA’s main campus). The campus includes many perks such as free (WIFI-enabled) shuttles to San Francisco and nearby Caltrain stations, childcare, two cafes, EA store, free state-of-the-art health center (with full gym, indoor/outdoor basketball, beach volleyball, and outdoor tennis), and a large lawn in the middle of campus where employees from EA and nearby companies play soccer, ultimate frisbee and flag football during lunchtime.
