We are seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer to join the Machine Learning Research Group and the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance (central Oxford) at the University of Oxford. The post is fixed-term for 5 years.
The Machine Learning Research group unites pioneering work on foundational machine learning topics with the application of that work to problem domains motivated by societal and scientific challenges. The group develops systems that can extract knowledge and provide decision making for data at a scale beyond the human, while realising the benefits of subtle human judgement and creativity. The Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance (OMI) is a research centre in quantitative finance which has a focus on data driven science. The aim is to foster a stimulating environment composed of researchers focused on machine learning techniques, whereby machine learning and data analytics expertise can be shared and leveraged. As a Departmental Lecturer, you will be a faculty member and will help deliver existing research in financial applications of machine learning as well as developing your own research team. You will plan and manage research projects to grow your own research activity. You will present papers and write research articles as well as undertaking advanced academic study. You will lecture and conduct practical classes as well as supporting specific areas of the syllabus.
You must have a doctorate in a relevant subject as well as post qualification research experience. A strong publication record, ability to lead and strong communication skills are also essential. A commitment to the academic mission through research, leadership and teaching as well as self-motivation and proven experience in machine learning is required.
