A Lectureship position (equivalent to US Assistant Professorship) is open at the Department of Statistical Science, University College London. Candidates should hold or be close to submitting a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Statistics, or a closely related field. It is essential that the successful candidate has a proven record of ability to carry out high quality research (including evidence of success in publishing in suitable journals), the ability to construct and deliver lecture courses on topics relevant to the needs of the Department and possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.i
The Department of Statistical Science at UCL is the longest established university statistics department in the world. It was founded in 1911 by Karl Pearson and has played a pioneering role in the development of the subject. It is one of nine departments in the UCL Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS), and has close links with many departments, both within the Faculty and outside it.
UCL is one of five founding members of the £67m Alan Turing Institute for Data Science. Together with the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit, the Departments of Statistical Science and Computer Science form the Centre for Computational Statistics and Machine Learning.
