Postdoctoral research position in machine learning at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position working with Edwin Bonilla (http://ebonilla.github.io/) at the University of New South Wales and Fabio Ramos (http://sydney.edu.au/engineering/people/fabio.ramo...) at the University of Sydney. The position is initially for one year but can be extended subject to funding.
The research project will develop new algorithms for multi-task spatio-temporal modelling from a nonparametric Bayesian perspective. The directions can be flexible but it is expected that the research will develop one or more of the following areas:
(1) Methods for the combination of heterogeneous sources of information;
(2) Scalable inference in nonparametric models with general likelihoods;
(3) Models and algorithms for the incorporation of complex space-time dependencies; and
(4) Methodologies and algorithms for data gathering.
The research will also address practical problems in areas such as infectious-disease spread prediction, environmental monitoring, resource exploration, and robotics.
Candidates must have a PhD (or near completion) in machine learning or related areas such as statistics or robotics and a strong research track record.
