PhD student in CS for Hermeneutics

The University of Luxembourg and in particular the group pcog.uni.lu lead by Professor Pascal Bouvry looks for an excellent candidate for a PhD in computer science for hermeneutics.
Nowadays, the total amount of data available increase in an exponential manner. The number of document formats used to perform research also exploded to include classical one such as books, photos, videos, sounds, or non conventional formats such as participative writing platforms, text blogs, websites or ephemeral data. The purpose of Digital History is to handle these various sources of information to perform research and analysis.
The work is related to big data analytics, graph traversals and clustering problems. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in combinatorial optimisation, graph theory and good programming skills (Python, Java or C++).
Funding is available for 3 years.
The student will work within an interdisciplinary environment (Computer Scientists, Historians, etc) in a group (13 positions are available in the different useful fields).
