Postdoctoral Researcher: network mechanisms and protocols for Over-the-top Multimedia Content Delivery

Institute of Telecommunications has an open PostDoctoral Researcher position in a Project in cooperation with AlticeLabs: “O2TDelivery: Over-the-top Multimedia Content Delivery for Next Generation Mobile Networks”.
This is a research project in the area of high definition content delivery through the Internet (over-the-top).
The work in this position will focus on the network protocols and mechanisms for over-the-top content distribution networks, with a special focus on the support of Catch-Up TV service, such as the one in the Portuguese Meo, which enables the visualization of all contents in the last 7 days. This work will also consider the performance in a wireless network and the possibility to provide prefetching to the WiFi hotspots.
The mechanisms to be developed will be tested in real environments. Through previous projects we were able to deploy a content distribution platform with AlticeLabs for testing purposes.
The work is to be performed within the Institute of Telecommunications in Aveiro, in the University of Aveiro Campus, Portugal.
