We have an opening for a data analytics scientist position in Siemens Healthcare in Malvern, PA. We are hiring at a "Senior Scientist" level which is suitable for a PhD or Post-Doc graduate.
The Siemens Healthcare Division develops innovations that support better patient outcomes with greater efficiencies, giving providers the confidence they need to meet the clinical, operational and financial challenges of a changing healthcare landscape. As a global leader in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, and healthcare information technology, we have a keen understanding of the entire patient care continuum-from prevention and early detection to diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities:
? Research, prototype, and implement advanced analytics algorithms (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive) for mixed-modality digital health data, including textual, categorical, numerical, and imaging data.
? Advance the state-of-the-art in mixed-data analytics to enable healthcare providers to overcome the difficulties they face today, and the challenges they will face tomorrow.
? Close collaboration with Siemens customers, to understand real-world problems and requirements, to collect data, and to brainstorm on new solutions.
? Close collaboration with other scientists in Siemens, to scale up our innovation power across business areas, and to coordinate / lead the discovery of new digital healthcare research areas and product/service offerings.
? Close collaboration with software development engineers and architect to ensure a smooth transition from lab to market.
Competencies & Capabilities:
? Passion and drive for data analytics research and result-oriented innovation in the healthcare domain.
? Ability to model and solve complex healthcare related problems using latest machine learning algorithms.
? A strong motivation to search for the optimal and principled solution; yet comfortable and capable in producing solutions that “just works”.
? A passion to work on real data to solve real world problems facing healthcare providers worldwide (although we often need to use synthetic / research datasets to investigate and design the algorithm, but we will not stop there).
? Strong programming and systems skills (using C++ or Java) is a must.
? Ability to communicate effectively to a broader audience (researchers, clinicians, business leaders) is strongly preferred.
? Capable and comfortable to take on complex problems either as an individual contributors, or as part of a team.
Experience & Education:
? PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or statistics; or proven equivalent experiences and capabilities.
? Outstanding research track record in the field of supervised and unsupervised learning from image plus non-image data.
? Experience in mixed data analytics, such as images, text annotations, numerical, and categorical data, is required, even though this does not have to be in the healthcare domain.
? Knowledge and experience in medical image analysis is a strong plus, but not required.
? Strong experience in mixed data analytics, such as numerical, categorical, and textual data, is required, even though this does not have to be in the healthcare domain.
