This position is at the Coordination of Ecoinformatics of the National Commission for Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity of Mexico. The position requires good communication skills in Spanish.
The National Commission for Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) is a permanent interdepartmental commission, created in 1992. The mission of CONABIO is to promote, coordinate, support and carry out activities aimed at increasing awareness of biodiversity and its conservation and sustainable use for the benefit of society. CONABIO was conceived as an applied research organization, sponsoring basic research that generates and compiles information regarding biodiversity, developing capacity in the area of biodiversity informatics, and to act as a publicly accessible source of information and knowledge. We at Eco-informatics help CONABIO in its mission through the application of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.
We are looking for a machine learning and software developer to help us build tools for the study and monitoring of biological diversity in Mexico. A description in Spanish about the position can be found at the following link:

- Write data pre-processing scripts (for text, image, tabular, etc.)
- Train and test predictive models

- Develop web applications
- Document code
- Write user manual
Desired qualifications:
- Degree in mathematics, computer science or related fields
- Experience with machine learning techniques (neural networks, decision trees, support vector machines)
- Experience with predictive models validation
- Strong programming skills (preferably Python and C / C ++)
- Experience developing web applications and software libraries
- Version control management (preferably Git)
- OS: Linux, Mac
- Software: Docker, virtualenv
Net salary: MXN $ 22,000 - MXN $ 29,000 (according to experience)
