Postdoc Positions at IST Austria (Vienna): Transfer Learning/Structured Prediction/Non-standard Supervision

Two ERC-funded postdoc positions in Machine Learning are available
immediately in the group of Christoph Lampert (www.ist.ac.at/~chl) at
IST Austria (see below for more information about the institute).
Possible topics include, but are not limited to,
* transfer learning (multi-task learning, domain adaptation, lifelong
learning, ...),
* structured learning and prediction (e.g. probabilistic graphical
models, structure support vector machines, ...),
* learning with non-standard forms of supervision (e.g. semi-supervised,
weakly-supervised, active learning,...)
Applicants should hold a PhD in machine learning or a related area of
modern data analysis with a solid background in probability and analytic
reasoning. A strong research record is required, documented by
publications at first-tier conference (ICML, NIPS) and journals (JMLR,
PAMI, ML).
We are looking a for highly motivated and creative individual who enjoys
working in an excellent research environment including adequate funding
for equipment and conference travel. The successful candidate will have
no mandatory teaching or administrative duties, but he or she should be
motivated to take an active role in the further development of the newly
established research group. Good communication skills and fluency in
English are required. German language skills are optional.
We are looking a for highly motivated and creative individual who enjoys
working in an excellent research environment including adequate funding
for equipment and conference travel. The successful candidate will have
no mandatory teaching or administrative duties, but he or she should be
motivated to take an active role in the further development of the

Conditions of employment: The post-doctoral positions are provided for
one or two years with very competitive salary. Extensions are possible.
The starting date is flexible. There is no fixed deadline, applications
