Professor Positions
Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering develops key enabling technologies especially in the fields of information and communication technology and micro- and nanotechnology. The School research focuses on grand challenges in the society, especially energy and environmental problems and health and wellbeing technologies. The research topics range from basic research in natural sciences to high-tech solutions, application, services and innovations of high relevance to the society. Tenure Track at Aalto University
The tenure track professor positions are open for talented individuals, who have either demonstrated capability or excellent potential for a successful scientific career. Individuals at the Aalto University tenure track positions have an opportunity to advance in their career through regular performance assessments, which consider merits in research, teaching, and impact within and outside the university environment. Launched only in 2010, the Aalto University tenure track positions have been widely noticed and attracted a large number of international applicants. Requirements for Tenure Track or Tenured Professor Positions
The requirements for tenure track professor positions are based on the following dimensions
Research work, scientific output
Teaching merits and competence
Activity in the scientific community, academic leadership and societal interaction
For assistant and associate professor positions, the evaluation is based on merits and potential in all three dimensions. In cases where recruitment is made directly to a tenured position, the requirements for the qualifications are either 1) "excellent" in research performance and "high quality" in teaching merits, or 2) "excellent" in teaching merits and "high quality" in research performance. In addition, also for tenured positions activity within the scientific community and merits in academic leadership are considered. The School of Electrical Engineering values industrial experience and management of major research projects.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Individuals in the academic tenure track positions at Aalto University are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in the academic functions of the University, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.

Requirements for Professor of Practice Position
The requirements for professor of practice position are based on the same criteria as for a tenure track candidate. In addition the applicant´s experience in expert and management role in business or in public sector is evaluated.
Salary
Aalto University follows the new salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also provide a salary requirement.
