PhD Scholarship in Data Analysis for Chronic Cardiac Care at University of Copenhagen

The PhD candidate will be expected to perform statistical analysis of data from patients suffering from chronic heart disease, in particular of data generated by advanced pacemakers (ICD), and to subsequently devise methods for automatic detection and prediction of symptoms as well as for treatment optimization. The PhD candidate will be based at DIKU's machine learning lab. The candidate must, in addition to the qualifications listed below, have:
An MSc in Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, or Mathematics;
Written an MSc thesis within machine learning and/or statistics;
Documented programming skills and experience in either C++, Python, and/or R;
A solid background in mathematics and statistics.
Knowledge in medical data analysis is a plus.
Job description
The successful applicant will be enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen. The PhD programme, in addition to the project work, comprises participation in courses or international PhD schools and some activity as teaching assistant.
Your key tasks as a PhD student at Science are:
Manage and carry through your research project
Take PhD courses
Write scientific articles and your PhD thesis
Participate in congresses
Stay at an external research institution for a few months, preferably abroad
Teach and disseminate your research
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
The starting salary is currently at a minimum DKK 305,291 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 42,171). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
