Tenure-track positions in the areas of Environmental Economic Analysis and Policy at Central Michigan University

Central Michigan University invites applications for a cohort of two research-intensive tenure-track positions in the areas of Environmental Economic Analysis and Policy. The appointees would be affiliated with the CMU Institute for Great Lakes Research (CMU-IGLR) and hold academic appointments in the Department of Geography. Application will be considered at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor depending on prior experience.
Applicants should have established research programs related to the environmental economic geography of the Great Lakes or possess expertise that will allow them to develop such a program. Those with expertise in areas including, but not limited to: economic geography; environmental law; land use planning; environmental policy; and/or economic impact analysis as applied to invasive species, wetlands, fisheries, recreation, tourism, wildlife habitat, water quality, Great Lakes transportation, climate change, green energy (e.g. wind turbines), urban/ industrial/agricultural impact on water resources, fracking, and flood control, are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should be qualified to hold a tenure track position in the Department of Geography.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral researchers and to participate in the activities of IGLR, including involvement in, and where appropriate, leading multidisciplinary research projects and proposals. Successful candidates will be expected to teach and mentor students in the undergraduate Environmental Studies major and the newly created Ph.D. Program in Earth and Ecosystem Science. The teaching load during the probationary period (3-5 years depending on experience) will be one course per semester. Beyond the probationary period teaching load will depend on success in funded research. Additional responsibilities include university and departmental service.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D.; prior success in obtaining, or the demonstrated potential to obtain, external funding; demonstrated effective communication skills; a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and graduate education.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise that complements that of existing CMU faculty working on the Great Lakes and to those with post-doctoral experience.
