Applications are invited for a PhD student at the Institute of Digital Games (http://game.edu.mt/), University of Malta. The Institute of Digital Games runs a number of EU funded projects at the intersections of machine learning, computational creativity and affective computing within the creative domain of games and the candidate is expected to support research activities within these areas. Appointment is expected during early Fall 2015.
We are looking for excellent candidates with backgrounds at the crossroads of artificial and computational intelligence, machine learning, affective computing, and user modelling. In particular we are interested in candidates with a good grasp of as many of the following subfields: evolutionary algorithms, artificial neural networks, deep learning, affect annotation and affect modelling, player experience modelling, computational game creativity, procedural game content generation.
