**PhD Researcher for the management & control of Internet of Things environments**
*Project Description*
MOSAIC is currently active in a number of national and international research projects relating to Internet of Things (IoT), where the group studies the management of networked IoT devices in a broad application domain. Use cases include Smart Cities, Smart Homes, e-health etc. Within these projects, we are looking for two new PhD researchers whose topic will focus on the management and control of the Internet of Things. The exact topic will be defined together with the selected PhD student but will be along the following research lines (one per PhD researcher):
- Providing Quality of Service in a highly dynamic Internet of Things environment.
- Intrusion detection and other security mechanisms for mobile ad-hoc networks
*Job Description*
You perform research in the management and control of the Internet of Things.
- You are conducting research on novel ways of providing end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) and/or Quality of Experience (QoE) delivery guarantees for broadband services with stringent requirements.
- You apply your solutions to large-scale, decentralized, dynamic and lossy networks (e.g., user-deployed networks, smart city networks, sensor networks, etc.).
- You will participate in the framework of European-level and national research projects.
- You are building up hands-on experience by implementing these network concepts and by evaluating them through emulation on a large testbed or through detailed simulations.
- You publish and present results both at international conferences and in scientific journals.
- This research leads to a PhD degree. Throughout the complete PhD period, you receive a full-time, attractive salary. The exact topic of the PhD will be defined together with the candidate, based on his/her research interests.
*Profile and Requirements*
- You have (or will receive within a few months) a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Informatics or similar.
- Experience and a strong interest in existing or new network technologies (MAC layer and above) and/or cloud technologies are a plus.
- Experience with wireless sensor networks, mobile ad-hoc networks and their implementations is an important advantage but not mandatory.
- You are able to plan and carry out your tasks in an independent way. You have strong analytical skills to interpret the obtained research results.
- You are a team player and have strong communication skills.
- You are able to commit to timing and milestones set forward by different research projects.
- Your English is fluent, both speaking and writing.
