The Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (http://ai.foi.hr) at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher Position at the ModelMMORPG project ? Large-scale Multi-Agent Modeling of Massively Multi-Player On-Line Role-Playing Games (details at http://ai.foi.hr/modelmmorpg). The project aims to develop agent-based methods for development and design of MMORPGs including player behavior modeling, NPC/mob design as well as artificial player (bot) development.
Job responsibilities:
Pursue applied research and technology development activities in the following areas:
Design and development of a model-driven development tool for agent organizations;
Development of plug-ins for specific MMORPG platforms;
Design and development of specific AI player organizations to be evaluated against human players;
Provide a sound proof-of-concept of the proposed solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness;
Write and publish excellent research papers;
Help in managing the research project and work closely with the PI and project team;
Contribute to other AI Labs initiatives.
Qualifications:
The applicant should hold a PhD in Computer Science, Information Science or related field by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate has defended his PhD in the field of multi-agent systems and/or agent-based modeling, is well versed with complex programming (especially graphical user interface or game development) and has statistical data analysis skills. Key job requirements include:
Strong knowledge in at least one GUI programming language/library (graphical modeling tool development, multi-platform toolkits are preferred)
Strong knowledge in the in at least two of the following languages: Python, Prolog, C/C++
Strong knowledge of multi-agent development methods;
Very good critical thinking and reasoning skills;
Ability to work independently;
Good knowledge of Linux, SPADE, and/or BDI/automated planning is an asset;
Experience in semantic web/ontologies, SNA, NLP, and/or machine learning is an asset;
Publication record in top academic journals and conferences is an asset;
Personal Attributes:
Very good English communication and writing skills (Croatian language is an asset);
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks to ensure deadlines are met;
Experience in working independently and/or as a part of a team;
Enthusiasm about old-style RPGs (e.g. Zelda, Pokemon and similar) is a big plus.
The duration of the position is 2 years and 1 month starting September 1st 2015.
