Lecturer in Photography - School of Art - Jimma University

School of Art is a pioneering department to develop different areas of art across the country. The School seeks a creative photographer to be appointed as a lecturer for interdisciplinary duties. We are looking for a self-motivated, critically astute individual who is passionate about teaching and developing their own research profile. This practice should have a rigorous dialogue with contemporary fine art practice. You should be creative, inspirational, forward thinking and possess a wide knowledge of contemporary photography practice and its related theories. You are required to have digital technical skills particularly in the area of moving image and emerging technologies e.g. 3D imaging and augmented reality.
Responsibilities
? Teaching photography courses in different programs of the School.
? Participating in interdisciplinary projects needing photography.
? Training the university official photographers.
Requirements
? M.A. in photography or a related subject and be able to demonstrate an awareness of contemporary photographic issues
? Commercial photographic experience (editorial/advertising) with a sound knowledge of lighting, digital imaging/workflow and professional practice
? Commitment to teaching excellence
? Excellent communication skills
The Person
A committed practitioner and educator, your established photography practice fuels and informs your successful approach to teaching diverse students. We will expect you to demonstrate a flair for every aspect of course delivery. A keen interest in the constant review and development of the subject is essential, to ensure students enjoy a contemporary and exciting learning environment. Naturally, you will be thoroughly familiar with a wide range of photographic practices and material processes. You will bring to the role a confident theoretical, critical and historical framework of knowledge, together with excellent organisational and communication skills.
