PhD opportunities at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology is a research-oriented graduate school located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is one of the leading research institutes in the Middle East. The institute collaborates closely with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) through interdisciplinary research projects and student exchange programs.
Dr Wei Lee Woon and Dr. Zeyar Aung from the Computing & Information Science program are currently looking for PhD candidates in the fields of Machine Learning and Big Data. The primary objective is to apply Data Analytics to solve critical challenges in the domains of renewable energy and sustainability
Potential research topics include
1. Load and demand forecasting in Smart Grids
2. Clustering of Smart Grid load profiles
3. Fault detection in Smart Grids
4. Cybersecurity in Smart Grids
5. Tech-mining and Technology Forecasting

Successful candidates are entitled to full scholarship for the duration of 4 years. This includes tuition fees, monthly living allowance, free accommodation, health plan, and flight tickets.
