Research Associate to work on the project Literature-based Discovery for Cancer Biology

A position exists for a Research Associate to work on the project Literature-based Discovery for Cancer Biology. The project is funded by the Medical Research Council, UK, and will involve collaboration with the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. The aim of the project is to develop new NLP-based methodology for literature-based discovery in biomedicine and to demonstrate its usefulness for research in cancer biology.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, bioinformatics or a related discipline. He/she will have strong programming skills and previous experience in NLP and/or machine learning. Previous experience in application of NLP to biomedical literature may be considered an advantage.
The RA will work with Anna Korhonen as part of the Computational Linguistics Research Cluster at DTAL and will be a member of the large community of NLP researchers in Cambridge.
The post is for 3 years starting from 1 June, 2015.
