Postdoctoral Fellow - Biomedical Informatics, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
The Solti Lab (https://research.cchmc.org/solti/) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is inviting candidates to join the research team. The lab is funded by multiple CCHMC and NIH grants to conduct electronic health record (including narrative text) based clinical decision support and health IT research. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the NIH funded clinical trial eligibility screening research and the medication reconciliation research funded by the institutional Place Outcomes Research Award.
Qualified candidates for the Fellow position have earned a PhD in biomedical informatics, computer science, artificial intelligence, computational linguistics or closely related field. Research experience with Machine Learning is a must and stochastic Natural Language Processing (NLP) is preferred. Excellent command of both written and oral English, first author peer reviewed journal publications, strong programming skills and familiarity with Unix/Linux environment for programming are required. Java and Unix cluster computing experiences and familiarity with clinical NLP are preferred.
The Fellow will be co-supervised by Drs. Yizhao Ni (Research Associate, Biomedical Informatics), Imre Solti (Assistant Professor, Biomedical Informatics) and Andrew Spooner (Chief Medical Information Officer and Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Informatics). The fellow will collaborate with other postdoctoral fellows, research associates, programmers and clinical annotators within the lab and the Department of Biomedical Informatics. Ours is a dynamic, fast paced research environment. The Fellow should expect to conduct multiple machine learning and NLP-focused projects and contribute to applied patient safety and health care quality improvement efforts.

Cincinnati Children's has over one million patient encounters a year and is the third-highest recipient of NIH funding among children hospitals. The Department manages a state-of-the-art 500+ CPU computing cluster. The research of the Solti Lab is funded from institutional and external (NIH) grants.
