1-3 Postdoctoral positions in Mathematics with specialization in Combinatorial Probability Theory at the Department of Mathematics from 1 July 2014 or according to a mutual agreement.
The Department of Mathematics performs research and provides education on undergraduate to postgraduate levels in mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematical statistics. The number of employees is almost 100, of which 30 are PhD students.
Work description: The aim of the research is to study various problems in combinatorial probability theory and to develop methods for the study of such problems. This includes, for example, random graphs, random trees, and probabilistic problems from the study of algorithms. Teaching will be included to a maximum of 20% of full time.
Employment period: The period of employment is 2 years from the hiring date.
Qualifications required: To be eligible for a position as postdoctoral researcher, the applicant must hold a PhD. The applicants PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application date. The PhD can be older than three years if there are special circumstances. Such special circumstances can be periods of sick leave, parental leave etc, which are deducted from the three-year period. Ability to teach in Swedish or English is a requirement as well as proficiency in spoken and written English. Good command of probability theory is of merit.
Ranking criteria: In ranking eligible candidates, special importance will be given to scientific skills. In filling these positions the university aims to recruit the persons who, in the combined evaluation of competence, skills and documented qualifications, are judged most suitable to carry out and develop the work-in-hand and to contribute to a positive development of the department.
